Siphokazi Jonas is a multi-award-winning poet, playwright, actor, and producer based in South Africa. She holds an MA in English Literature and a BA in Drama and English. She is the author of Weeping Becomes a River, which was awarded 2024 The Book Lounge Book of the Year, listed among the 100 Notable African Books of 2024, and joint winner of the 2025 HSS Award for Best Poetry. The book was also awarded the 2025 UJ Debut Prize, the Glenna Luschei Prize for African Poetry, and shortlisted for the 2026 Ingrid Jonker Prize. Her children’s book, Oli and the Island of Intsomi, was published in August 2026.
