Seeds Of Cinema
Sunshine Cinema believes in the power of authentic African stories to inspire dialogue, strengthen communities, and drive positive social change.
Through our mobile, solar-powered cinema model, we train young facilitators to host community film screenings and lead guided conversations on social and environmental issues.
A partnership programme between the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the German Government and the European Union (EU), implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), works within the SADC Transfrontier Conservation Areas (TFCAs) to address climate change impacts and support sustainable solutions.
Together, Sunshine Cinema and GIZ are launching a youth initiative in the Kavango–Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA TFCA) and the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (KTP) regions in collaboration with National Geographic Society and Disney Africa.
The programme offers young people aged 21-34 the opportunity to become film impact facilitators who organise community screenings of existing films and lead discussions on conservation, climate change, and social justice. It is best suited to candidates not in full-time employment or study and able to commit fully to the programme.
Please note
- This is not a practical film production course.
- It is a film impact facilitation learning programme running from 1 April 2026 – 1 March 2027, with a basic monthly stipend provided.
- If you are interested in learning how to become a film impact facilitator, someone who organises solar powered film screenings in their community and facilitates guided conversations around important topics, this programme may be a good fit for you.
